Brewmeisters and winemakers in San Diego’s North County are known for cooking up cauldrons of awesome autumn libations, so put down that bucket of Halloween candy and cheers to some truly tasty treats. These local selections truly have some seasonal flair. Get ‘em while you can!

California Fruit Wine (1040 La Mirada Ct., Vista):
Their signature pumpkin spice wine is a true taste of fall. Yelpers report it’s not too sweet and the complex, almost cocktail-like concoction is spiced with cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and ginger. It’s the perfect pairing to gobble with ghosts on Halloween or for your upcoming Thanksgiving feast.

Indian Joe Brewing (2379 La Mirada Dr., Vista):
The pilgrims would have loved this place. The Apricot Peach Hefeweizen is a bountiful, harvest-focused brew selection. Occasionally, this brewery has Native American Fry Bread on site to pair with the fruity finish of this beloved beer. The tart flavors are the perfect balance to cold weather comfort food.

Wilson Creek Winery (35960 Rancho California Rd., Temecula)
Feeling festive? Pop some bottles! Wilson Creek’s Almond Champagne is known in San Diego as the preferred local bubbly and makes the hottest hostess gift when heading to a party. A hint of pure almond flavor is the trick. It’s a subtle and sweet ingredient that perfects this famous local libation.

The Lost Abbey (155 Mata Way, San Marcos)
Struggling between good and evil on All Hallows Eve? Don’t fight it, have a pint of Serpents Stout at The Lost Abbey: Cocoa, coffee and vanilla flavors will have you begging for forgiveness. It’s a heavy sweet stout and just available for the season. Snag it before it sinks into the darkness again.

Wiens Family Cellars (35055 Via Del Ponte, Temecula):
In Temecula tasty wines run red and Wien’s 2011 Crowded is a blend that can’t be beat. Three berries burst in: cranberry, raspberry and strawberry. Then, a tint of chocolate mocha makes its mark, making this wine a flavorful fit for any meal or scary soiree. Bonus: there’s a killer deal online for a Halloween three-pack, good through Nov. 4.
